Privacy notice
Your location stays on your phone.
This notice explains what WeWantTyres does with your personal data, as required by the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. The short version: nothing leaves your phone until you press send in WhatsApp, and we only use what you send us to quote and fit your tyres. Last updated 4 October 2026.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is WeWantTyres. Contact us about your data or through the contact page.
What we collect, why, and for how long
- Your device location (latitude and longitude)
- Why: To build the map link in the WhatsApp message so the fitter can find you.
- Lawful basis: Consent: you choose whether to share it, and you can refuse.
- Kept: Not stored by this website. It stays in your browser until you press send in WhatsApp or close the page.
- Tyre size, timing and anything you type on WhatsApp
- Why: To quote, plan the visit and fit your tyres.
- Lawful basis: Taking steps at your request before a contract, then performing the contract.
- Kept: For as long as needed to deliver the job and for six years afterwards, so we can answer warranty, accounting and legal queries.
- Your name, phone number and payment details
- Why: To confirm the booking, take payment and issue a receipt.
- Lawful basis: Performing the contract and meeting our legal obligations to keep accounting records.
- Kept: Six years from the end of the tax year of the job (HMRC record-keeping rules).
- Technical logs such as IP address, browser and pages visited
- Why: Keeping the site secure and working, and fixing errors.
- Lawful basis: Our legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure website.
- Kept: Collected by the hosting platform in aggregate and rotated on its normal schedule.
How location sharing works
When you tap “Use my current location”, your phone asks for permission and gives this page your coordinates. They are used only to build a Google Maps link and a location reference inside the WhatsApp message you are about to send. They are not uploaded to a server, stored in a database or sent to us by this website. You can refuse and describe where you are in the message instead.
Who else sees your data
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd). Messages you send us travel through WhatsApp under Meta's own privacy policy. Meta may transfer data outside the UK under its approved safeguards.
- Lovable (hosting). Serves this website and collects aggregate technical logs and error reports to keep it running.
- Google Fonts and Google Maps. Your browser fetches fonts from Google, and the map link you send opens Google Maps. Google receives your IP address when it serves those requests.
We do not sell your data or share it with anyone for marketing.
Cookies
This website sets no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies and does not require an account. Any storage used is strictly necessary to serve the page, which is why you do not see a cookie banner. If that ever changes we will ask for your consent first, as the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations require.
Your rights
- Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your data where we no longer need it.
- Restriction: ask us to pause using your data while a query is resolved.
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Portability: receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable form.
- Withdraw consent: at any time, without affecting what was done before.
To use any of these, message us. We respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we would welcome the chance to resolve it first.
